Write the .img.xz to a USB stick of 8 GB or more. This erases the stick. balenaEtcher takes the .img.xz directly. Rufus needs it unpacked with 7-Zip first. On Linux:
xz -dc halcyraos-1.0.1-x86_64.img.xz | sudo dd of=/dev/sdX bs=4M status=progress conv=fsync
Pick the stick in your firmware's boot menu. The Welcome app opens on first boot.
Needs a 64-bit x86 PC with UEFI (no legacy BIOS), 4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended), a 20 GB disk and a Vulkan-capable GPU. 1.0.1 hasn't been tested on real hardware yet.
1.1.0 gaming test 1 (pre-release). For benchmarking on real hardware, still on the old Arch base. Adds the scx_lavd scheduler, gamemode, zram, Steam with Proton, NVIDIA and Mesa drivers, and MangoHud.
